To All My Friends At RCA Global Communications Inc. (By Phil Rauso Sr.)
John Kressaty

Since my six-way by-pass of March 5th 2005.  Both my wife Marianna and I have been a volunteer at the Banner Heart Hospital in Mesa Arizona.  While recovering.  A nurse mentioned to me, she thought I would make a good volunteer.  It never entered my mind, but she did put the bee in my bonnet.  Two months later I was back at Banner Heart Hospital working as a volunteer.  It was perhaps the best job I have ever undertaken in my life.  Banner Heart Hospital is amongst the Top One-Hundred Hospitals in the United States.  The Surgeons, Doctors and Nurses are second to none, my wife and I are proud to be part of the team.  We have received many thank you cards and letters from both Family and Patients for the way we were able to assist them in their time of need.

I would like to bring your attention one Volunteer in particular. Mr John Kressaty.  John had a complete heart transplant a few years back. John is a shinning example of what a volunteer should be.

John also lost a daughter due to Heart Failure.  Jennifer Kressaty was in her early twenties. What John Kressaty does, is put a young nurse through Nursing School each November.  Most of the funds come from John's own pocket.  There is a fund set up for Jennifer Kressaty.  The funds received are used (100%) towards the nurses schooling.  If anyone would like to contribute towards The Jennifer A. Kressaty Award Program you may do so by sending your donation to:

Banner Health Foundation (Fund #614100)
2025 North 3rd Street, Suite B250
Phoenix, AZ 85004

Please be sure to put on  the bottom of your check (fund #614100)

If anyone were here to observe how Banner Heart Hospital is run.  You would not hesitate in helping such a worthy cause.

With Sincere Thanks,

Phil & Marianna Rauso,

In case some friends may not be aware....

VETERANS PREVIOUSLY DENIED VA BENEFITS CAN REAPPLY

In 1996 Congress established a priority based enrollment system for access to VA health care.  In 2003, due to increased pressure on resources, enrollment was suspended for certain Veterans with incomes above "geographic means test" threshold.

Last year, Congress passed legislation raising this income threshold by 10 percent. Starting this summer, VA began the process of contacting thousands of Veterans who had previously been denied enrollment

If you were denied enrollment on the basis of your income, contact the nearest VA Medical Center eligibility office to determine if you are eligible under the new guidelines.

AARP
"I'm on Medicare."
What does all this talk of Health Care Reform mean to me? Are they going to cut my benefits?
Who's Looking out for me?"

AARP IS FIGHTING FOR YOU

AARP is fighting to protect Medicare so you will continue to get the benefits you've earned.  We are also working to reduce waste and inefficiency so Medicare will be there for future generations when they're ready to retire/

AARP exists to provide a voice for older Americans.  That's why we will always fight with the strength of our 40 million members against proposals in Washington that will hurt rather than help our membership.

Right now, there is a noisy debate about how to fix what's wrong with health care.  AARP will carefully monitor the situation, and we will fight to make sure any health care reform legislation protects your benefits and ensures the long-term security of Medicare.

As the process moves forward, AARP will continue to provide information you need to decide for yourself about what health care reform means for you.

STRENGTHENING AND IMPROVING MEDICARE

AARP is urging Congress to take action to Strengthen Medicare including:

     * Closing the Part D coverage gap, or "doughnut hole," so we can lower drug costs for millions of seniors;

     * Ensuring Medicare pays doctors fairly so you can keep the doctor of your choice or more easily find a doctor if you don't have one;

     * Lowering many out-of-pocket costs for important preventive services; and

     * Improving the coordination of care for people with chronic health conditions;

MYTHS VS, FACTS ABOUT MEDICARE

The health care debate can be confusing, and as a result, you may have questions about what Congress is proposing.  AARP pledges to present you with the facts so you can make your own decision about what health care reform will mean for you.

Myth:  Health care reform will hurt Medicare.

Fact:  None of the health care reform bills that have been introduced by Congress would cut Medicare benefits or increase your out-of-pocket costs for traditional Medicare services.

Myth:  Health care reform means the government can make end-of-life decisions for you.

Fact:  No one, including the government or your insurance company, will be given the power to make end-of-life decisions for you.

Myth:  Health care reform means rationed care.

Fact:  None of the health reform proposals being considered would stand between individuals and their doctors or prevent any American from choosing the best possible care.

REMOVING WASTE:

IMPROVING MEDICARE'S LONG-TERM SECURITY

Billions of dollars are lost each year to waste, inefficiency and fraud in the Medicare system.  This waste is driving up your health care costs and threatening Medicare's long-term security.  Your premiums have doubled in the past decade and they'll skyrocket unless we act.

AARP SUPPORTS COMMON-SENSE SOLUTIONS TO IMPROVE YOUR MEDICARE:

     *  Eliminating Subsidies to Private Insurance Companies to reduce costs for you and for Medicare.

     *  Deducing Over-billing by Providers and cutting out duplicative paperwork and tests.

     *  Cracking Down on Abuse from those who fraudulently bill Medicare.

     *  Preventing Dangerous Hospital Readmissions by providing follow-up care that will help individuals safely transition home    after a hospital stay.

     *  Reducing Inefficiency by reducing payments to drug companies and hospitals.

The following E-mail was received by Phil Rauso Sr.

Hi,     I was in the U.S.Navy for 22 years  WW2 Amphib forces and on a Destroyer in Korea.  At a later date, I copied the State Department Bulletin out of Rocky Point NYK while serving on a flagship in the Mediterranean. I retired  in 1962.  After that and  because of the working hours, I quit my job with the FAA (weather communications)  SFO International Airport.  Went to work with RCA San Francisco about 1965 in traffic and telex...   Names I remember:    Marion Grey,  Floyd Ming, Ken Lowman, Harold Rice, Larry Miller, Joyce Boulet, Frank Abba, Frank Alvarez and Don Stackhouse.  I took severance with the downsizing of RCA in the mid 70's. After riding for about 38 years,  I had a Harley Davidson motorcycle accident below Mt. Diablo four years ago 2005 at age 82.....This put me in the Hospital for 3 months....I limp now at age 86, but still hanging in there.  Best to all who worked at RCA.....    Doug Strobel

Born Again American

An excellent song and video. One of the best I have seen in a long time! I had to watch it three times to just begin to see what it took to put it together. A masterpiece! It's a song written by Keith Carradine and performed by artists from all over the country. It was performed Sunday night at a Gala at Washington's Renaissance Hotel. It has a powerful message, just listen to (and read) the words. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have. http://www.bornagainamerican.org use the back arrow when finished as not to get disconnected from RCA Global.com.

From Anthony (Tony) Scandiffio)

Well guess what?  I could not dodge any more bullets.  It is time for me to bend to the winds of change.  The old dinosaur is going out to pasture.  Early retirement is starting to look pretty good.

My claim to fame began in 1957 as a messenger in ES office and gravitated to 60 Broad St. in 1958.  From there to the HATED CT shop as a "permanent".  Moving on to the electronic shop and finally to The Switching area on 5th floor.  From there I made my way to Piscataway in 1975 and found a hole To hide in until July 24th 2009.  Now after 52 years total I am taking the package, and officially joining The "Ole Fart" club. It ain't bad.

Respectfully,

Anthony M. Scandiffio

To Whom it May Concern:

I am a communications historian working on the early decades of transatlantic radio communication (pre-World War II). I'd love to hear from contributors to this site who might have stories to share of these years.  I am most interested in RCAC and its relationship with France.  RCA did a great deal to assist France developing its longwave and shortwave capacities.

I would be grateful if you could share my name and e-mail with the group.

Thank you for your consideration.

Received the following E-Mail:

Hello, RCA Employees. My name is Robert Harris. I'm  a radio producer for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, based in Toronto. The CBC is Canada's national broadcaster, sort of like the BBC in England. I'm working on a major, radio documentary series to be aired this fall about the history of the great American record companies, and, of course, Victor and RCA Victor may be the greatest of them all. I would very much like to hear from any former employees who have stories to tell about RCA Victor's record business, and especially, am interested in connecting with any former employees who are travelling to Camden this Sunday, July 12th, for the RCA Centennial Event, at the old Victor Building #17. My email address is rmharris@sympatico.ca; phone is 416-525-4729. Congratulations to you all for having worked for such a vital company in the history of the world's communications. (Phil Rauso)

Have you ever wondered what happened to the 56 men who signed the Declaration Of Independence ?

     1. Five signers were captured by the British as traitors, and tortured before they died.

     2. Twelve had their homes ransacked and burned.

    3. Two lost their sons serving in the Revolutionary Army, another had two sons captured.

     4. Nine of the 56 fought and died from wounds or hardships of the Revolutionary War.

     5. They signed and they pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor.

What kind of men were they?

Twenty-four were lawyers and Jurists, Eleven were merchants, Nine were farmers and large plantation owners, men of means, well educated, but they signed the Declaration of Independence knowing full well that the penalty would be death if they were captured. Carter Braxton of Virginia, a wealthy planter and trader, saw his ships swept from the seas by the British Navy.  He sold his home and properties to pay his debts, and died in rags. Thomas McKeam was so hounded by the British that he was forced to move his family almost constantly.  He served in congress without pay and his family was kept in hiding.  His possessions were taken from him, and poverty was his reward.  Vandals or soldiers looted the properties of Dillery, Hall, Clymer, Walton, Gwinnett, Heyward, Ruttledge and Middleton.  At the battle of Yorktown, Thomas Nelson, Jr., noted that the British General Cornwallis had taken over the Nelson home for his headquarters.  He quietly urged General George Washington to open fire.  The home was destroyed and Nelson died bankrupt.  Francis Lewis had his home and properties destroyed.  The enemy jailed his wife, and she died within a few months.  John Hart was driven from his wife's bedside as she was dying.  Their 13 children fled for their lives.  His fields and his gristmill were laid to waste.  For more than a year he lived in forests and caves, returning home to find his wife dead and his children vanished.

So, take a few minutes while enjoying your 4th of July holiday and silently thank these patriots.  It's not much to ask for the price they paid.  Remember: freedom is never free !  It's time we get the word out that patriotism is NOT a sin, and the Fourth of July has more to it than Beer, Picnics, and Baseball games.
